Cloud Computing

What is Cloud Computing?

The term "cloud" in Cloud Computing is a metaphor for the Internet. In simple terms, your applications and data live securely in servers hosted in the Cloud. The most visible example of cloud applications is the Google Apps suite.

Why Cloud Computing?

There are many advantages of Cloud Computing including:

  • Portability - Access to your applications and their data through a web browser from any location or device;
  • IT Focus - Freedom from the need to fund, procure, manage and support physical infrastructure beyond your web browser means your IT staff can focus more closely on innovation and business objectives;
  • Scalability - Vast storage resources and increased scalability on-demand;
  • Reduced Costs - Cloud technology is paid for incrementally without large up-front capital requirements;
  • Flexibility - Increased flexibility and ability to integrate other services which reside in the Cloud;
